Cage Warriors “Portsmouth” Cancelled
A message from Cage Warriors President Dougie Truman
It is with great regret that i have to once again announce that the Cage Warriors Fighting Championships have had to cancel their return to Portsmouth on September 2nd. This is due to a new Councillor who has taken over the licensing department at Portsmouth City Council and has raised issues concerning Combat sports being held in Portsmouth. This is largely due to a recent “Wrestling” event staged at the Moutbatton centre where a 15 year old boy was cut badly & injured.
We hoped we could negotiate through this in time, but sadly that is not the case, as the local Council are very adament at present and will not to allow any combat sports continuing in Portsmouth. I am trying to schedule a meeting next week with Council officials to argue our case and I will keep you all up to date with any developments and may even call upon you at some point to voice your own views.
Many apologies to you all especially the fighters. We have tried to notify all the fighters before making this announcement, my especially to any of you who we have not yet contacted.
Regards Dougie Truman
President of the Cage Warriors Fighting Championships
