Frank Trigg Throws in the Towel and Retires
According to maxfighting.com, UFC veteran Frank “Twinkle” Toes Trigg has announced his retirement from active competition. Trigg last entered the Octagon at UFC 54 (8/20/05) where he lost to Canada’s Georges St. Pierre by way of rear naked choke at 4:09 of the first round. You’ll still be able to catch Frank doing color commentary for the PRIDE Fighting Championships.
Rich Franklin Update on Injury
According to Franklin himself, he’s rehabbing from his injuries nicely. The current middleweight champ recently posted this on his website, RichFranklin.com:
“The surgery on my hand seems to have taken well, and it is healing rather quickly. We have begun an intense rehab program on my ankle for stabilization purposes, and I have completed the rehab program for my hand. I have been able to ride a bicycle and do an elliptical machine, and will be clear to run and possibly roll lightly next week. I can drill my jiu-jitsu and shadow-box. I started using my hand for lifting last week, but I will not be able to actually punch something until June. ”
Franklin broke both his hands and busted up his ankle in his last bout back at UFC 58 (3/4/06) when he thwarted David Loiseau’s bid for the title. It was originally thought that he would be out for 6 to 8 months, and it looks like that estimate could hold true. There is no official return date set for the champ, but I’ll take a stab and say UFC 64, which should go down some time in November. I’m also guessing we’ll see Rich in George Gurgel’s corner when he makes his Octagon debut vs. Mark Hominick on June 28 at Ultimate Fight Night.

The Ultimate Fighter Season 4 “The Comeback” Coming Soon
The Boston Herald recently published an article stating the fourth season of The Ultimate Fighter, which is currently under production in Las Vegas, is set to debut Thursday, August 17th at 10 p.m. on Spike TV.
The cast will consist of 16 UFC veterans from 2 weight classes (middleweight and welterweight) battling for a guaranteed title shot and a six-figure UFC contract.
The Boston Herald also reported, “Instead of coaches for the two teams, prominent UFC personalities will serve as advisors and counsels for the 16 fighters. They include Randy Couture, Georges St. Pierre and Mark Delagrati.”
There are many rumors floating around as to the identity of the contestants, but none have been confirmed at this point.
Props to Dana White and the producers for shaking things up a bit. But then again, anything’s better than watching Ed Hurman bathe himself.

Ultimate Fighter 3: Ed Herman Vs Danny Abaddi
As the fight begins, Danny immediately nails Ed with his right hand. But it’s not long before they clinch and Ed gets Danny on his back where he delivers more than a few elbows to Danny’s face. Danny struggles unsuccessfully to get out from Ed’s guard. In his last attempt to escape, Danny gives Ed his arm and gets submitted. It’s over for Danny as he taps out.
