Xiaolin’s Fight PREVIEW- Ultimate Fight Night 5, June 28

This is my preview for the cable event known as UFN 5 on the 28th of the month. Anyway, if I have a 50.1% accuracy or higher, you owe me a cookie… as always. Enjoy my fight previews, I’m working on limited brainpower after I hit my head earlier today.

Alright, this promises to be an interesting fight card with the fights that for sure will be broadcast and then the fights that may or may not be shown live… let’s start with what we’re garunteed to get:

Chris ‘CRIPPLER’ Leben vs. Anderson ‘SPIDER’ Silva

I’m not that familiar with Silva, but I hear he’s good. He’s fighting the Crippler, Chris Leben- love him or hate him, you KNOW his name, and you know he has serious striking skills and a good chin- I believe we’ve also seen him pull an armbar. I think this will be an exciting three-rounder, with the Crippler coming out with a 29-28 28-29 29-28 split decision.
Crippler via split decision.

Rashad Evans vs. “American Psycho” Stephan Bonnar

Season one meets season two of TUF, when our heavyweight friend from season two Rashad drops to 205 to fight the ever-popular American Psycho from season one, fighting at the same weight he did on the show. I’d love to see Rashad do his little dancing thing in the fight, but I doubt Stephan’s gonna let that happen, I see a slugfest of two rounds, with Rashad getting the TKO roughly half way through the third round.
Rashad by TKO, third round.

Jonathan ‘Road Warrior’ Goulet vs. Luke ‘Silent Assassin’ Cummo

Jonathan Goulet is a fighter I’m not greatly familiar with, but from what I’ve seen he likes to strike. As does Cummo. Cummo, though, I believe hold the advantage with his unusual method of striking and his ability to mentally prepare is hsi biggest advantage, in my opinion. But Goulet has a good chance, though, and I pick him for the win, split decision.
Goulet, split decision.

Jon Fitch vs. Thiago Alves(MAY NOT BE BROADCAST)

Fitch and Alves should be a good fight too, as I understand both like to strike, though I don’t know much more on specifics. I’m thinking Thiago by a TKO, first round.

Dave Menne vs. Josh Koscheck(MAY NOT BE BROADCAST)

Dave is an impressive fighter, and Josh… subpar at best, in my honest opinion. He has gotten better since TUF, but his only hope is to get a Lay-n-Pray victory against this opponent.
Dave by TKO, second round.

Brandon Lee Hinkle vs. Jason Lambert(MAY NOT BE BROADCAST)

Both are very impressive fighters from what I’ve seen of them, and they both have a roughly equal opportunity to win this one, I think. We’re in for another good fight, possibly a slugfest again, which I see going just over one round.
Lambert by TKO, round 2.

Matt Hominick vs. Jorge Gurgel(MAY NOT BE BROADCAST)

A fight at 155 between two fighters that are exciting as heck. Gurgel is one I’m excited to see fighting again, he took a risk on TUF2 and it didn’t end ideally for him. Hominick is, I believe, coming off a win against the popularly thought 155-champ-to-be Yves Edwards. Both are tough at 155, and I expect someone’s getting hurt in this one. I have to go with my buddy Jorge.
Jorge by unanimous decision.

Rob MacDonald vs Kristian Rothaermel(MAY NOT BE BROADCAST)

Rob is a good fighter, but Kristian sucks horribly. I expect less than a round, with Rob dominating and getting a tapout due to strikes.
Rob by strike tapout

Justin Levens vs. Jorge Santiago(MAY NOT BE BROADCAST)

Neither fighter is well-known to me, but I’ve heard more about Santiago so I’m gonna say Santiago by unanimous decision.
